Dr. Amy Richardson traveled a winding path to veterinary medicine. Following an early career in Finance, she went to culinary school and was a professional pastry chef in Boston. As much as she enjoyed the culinary profession, she decided to follow her original childhood goal of becoming a veterinarian.
Prior to receiving her Doctorate at Tufts University in 2004, she worked as an assistant in a small animal veterinary practice as well as with the penguins at the New England Aquarium. She also worked with the wolves at Wolf Hollow and traveled with the large animal veterinarians at Parrot Equine Associates. The small animals grabbed her heart and she joined Newbury Animal Hospital as an Associate in 2012 where she has thoroughly enjoyed developing relationships with her clients and patients.
Dr. Richardson loves to continually learn and develop her professional skills in order to best serve her patients. Particular areas of interest include surgery, ultrasound, pain management and geriatric care.
Dr. Richardson lives in West Newbury with her husband, two children (Nathaniel and Madeleine) and little boarder terrier puppy, Finn. In her free time she loves to read, garden, hike, travel and cook.
